Tempus Investment Research Limited (TIRL) main business is its hedge fund, Tempus Asia Strategies Fund (TASF). TASF is an Asian ex-Japan long/ short equity hedge fund that combines both technical and fundamental analysis. TASF has delivered exceptional returns during the 2007 bull market (43.6%) whilst preserving capital during the 2008 bear market (only -2.92%). Combining a versatile investment process with strong risk and portfolio management has enhanced our trade and asset selection resulting in superior returns. Since inception (April 2006) to December 2008, the fund returned 47% whilst the MSCI Asia Pacific ex-Japan index lost -30% and the Eurekahedge Asia ex-Japan long/short equity index gained only 9%.
John Schofield, TASF’s CIO, specializes in observing trends, turning points and cycles among markets, sectors and stocks. Martin Ching, Head of Fundamental Research, has a deep understanding of the fundamental drivers of markets, sectors and stocks. The combination of both John and Martin’s expertise has been the main driver behind our superior portfolio returns.
TIRL also represents an independent quantitative and technical research company, specializing in cycle, momentum and trend analysis of the Asian and global financial markets.
The company was formed in 2002 and has been registered as an Investment Advisor with the Hong Kong SFC since April 2003, and as an Asset Manager since February 2006. John Schofield and Martin Ching are the two Responsible Officers.
